WETHERBY is an historic market town on the River Wharf, situated between York, Leeds and Harrogate.

Wetherby Market is held on a Thursday. Wetherby Town Hall is in the centre of Market Square. There is also a 'Farmers Market' once each month on a Sunday.

The town has a pleasant picnic area & Bandstand alongside the river, which is also a great starting point for a Riverside Walk. Concerts are held on the Bandstand every week throughout the Summer.

The Town has an annual festival, with Civil War battle re-enactments (The famous Battle of Marston Moor was fought in 1644 just five miles away from Wetherby) , open air Opera and other events throughout the year.

Wetherby Racecourse is located just on the outskirts of the Town, with easy access from the A1. The Racecourse only stages Jump Racing. A new £4 Million stand, the "Millennium Stand" was opened at the course in 2000.

Wetherby is an acknowledged champion of floral displays, having won the best Town category of Britain in Bloom in 1998, been awarded a silver gilt in the same competition in 2002 and a coveted European Entente Florale Gold award in 1999.
