The Shambles LS22 6NG were built in 1811 by the Duke of Devonshire as Butchers shops. Each shop was let for a rent of three guineas a year.

In 1888 the Shambles was converted into an open market selling poultry and dairy produce.

At the begining of the Great War the Shambles were used for miniature rifle practice.

The Shambles are a Grade II listed building.
