Huguenot Arch and Gardens
 The Huguenot ArchThis arch was originally over a passageway between two houses at West End (now Westgate) near Wetherby Library. Local tradition says that the houses were probably built by the descendants of Huguenot (Protestant) refugees from France. The inscription is in French and translates as 'Love your neighbour as yourself, said the Evangelist' and was laid on the 19th January 1827. MORE... |
